I Have Something You Want by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

I Have Something You Want by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
I have still been pushing the limits to see just how subtle changes in value can really make
or break a painting. I really am liking this one. 5x7 oil still life on canvas panel.

Blackie cow painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Blackie cow painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Today I worked on dark to light values which I think worked well to accentuate the creases in the neck area. I am happy with the eyes because the eyes really show the spirit and life of the animal. In the photo I worked form on this black cow his eyes showed as black with areas of brown. Most cows I paint show as black only but being an artist I can add what I want to make the painting work better. Please don't ever let anyone tell you that painting a black cow is easy or black animal of any kind for that matter. Pet Portrait, cow painting oil on 7x5 canvas panel.

Ringo cow painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Ringo cow painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
As I continue my quest for a better painting I have been concentration on a few things. Not only paying close attention to the subtle value changes but also I added intentional perspective detail by
graduated color changes and the fence in the background and that one lone power line. I am painting slower these and paying particular attention to detail. Can I say once again that I love to paint cows. For some reason I am having trouble with photographing. I have tried several different methods but still I continue to get glare.

Don't Just Stand There by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Don't Just Stand There by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
I continue with these cow paintings which you may see as just plain cows but I see as colors, values, both light and dark. Those which demand attention and those which support to make the important things more important. Each day I don't just paint but each day I strive to learn more. To become better because that is what is important to me. I can't just be happy to paint but I desire to paint well.
My journey continues. Thanks for joining me on it.

Things Are Looking Up Cat painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Things Are Looking Up by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
I must say that I love this little painting. Actually painted from a picture of my daughters kitten.
Which brings me to a funny story. My daughters kitten went missing after her husband accidentally let it out. She looked for several weeks and could never find it. A few weeks later her children were playing with the neighbors little girl who was about 4 years old. We liked your little kitty she said. You did my daughter ask. Yes replied the little girl in fact my granny liked it so much that she took it home with her to live. Happy Valentines Day may your life be filled with someone who really loves you.

Sunny things by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Sunny Things by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Sunflowers are so pretty. They remind me of someone wild and free. No inhibited by the rules of some ridged unbending rules. They decide the direction of their path. I like that about them.

More In Than Out by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

More In Than Out by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
The handmade pottery bowl was a gift to me as a housewarming gift when I bought my
very first house. By some miracle I still have it. I used to make pottery myself. There is nothing like it. The feel of that wet cool clay between your hands as it takes on the shape that you mold it. Like I said there is just nothing like it.
