This is one rough rose. I started this painting by roughing in the background and then the stem and vase. I painted the roses last. This is oil painted on 20x16 canvas panel.

Something I have longed to do is paint believable flowers. I haven't the

slightest idea how to accomplish this so I just grabbed a brush and

went to work and this is what I come up with. It is much better in person.
