A rose is not a rose is not a rose is not a rose. These things are not easy to paint. Oh they look easy enough but I lost sleep over them. I just can't leave well enough alone. I could have painted a cherry or a cow or something a little easier but no I had to do a rose. Each day as I paint I learn something. I used a fan brush on this for the pine needles. I have never used a fan brush with any success but it worked ok today.

The name Rushing Things is because It has just been a little too warm for my taste. I really would like a Christmas where you don't have to run the air conditioner but then again any Christmas will do. I have been such a procrastinator these days. I painted several snowmen which I never posted maybe I will post them anyway soon.  I painted these flowers and I would like to say I painted them just for you. I am pleased with the overall feeling of it and I really love the vase. I hope you enjoy looking. I have studied different paintings that I like and have purposely noted what it is that I like about them and that being said I decided to change my background colors at least on this one. I don't think I have ever used these colors for a background before. Also I painted the grapes from models of other painters grapes Purposeful darks and brights and this is what I came up with. I am pleased as I hope you are. This is oil painted on 8x8 canvas panel. Again, I have been using black canvas panels and am really liking the results.
