Choices still life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Choices still life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Of course when I paint something I never know what to name it. I just paint it and then the name just comes. Maybe not always the best one but at least something. I added the lime and the cherry just for a little fun interest. So which choice would you choose a cherry or a lime. I made this artist bear. My first and only one. It was quite a challenge. 10x8 oil on canvas panel.

Big Sister Still Life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Big Sister Still Life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Showing you my mistakes makes me feel very wide open so here goes. As you know I paint alla prima for the most part. I painted the top picture and was gonna be done. In fact I thought I was done but I knew I was not happy with the spout on the teapot even though it did protrude out as painted but it just looked odd. I left it over night thinking maybe no one would notice especially since I had added that luscious cherry. Anyway, I got home from work today and decided to add the second teddy bear. ( I made the larger bear out of floral fabric). I am much happier with the end result. 14x11 oil on canvas panel. (I also painted the ceramic teapot).

Through The Years bear painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Through The Years bear painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
A teddy bear my mama bought for me a few years ago. This is the only thing I really collect. I only have a few of them and each one is valuable because all of them were given to me by someone that I love. This is an oil painting on a black canvas panel. 8x8 still life.

Soon We Will Be Loved still life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Soon We Will Be Loved still life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
I collect teddy bears but only a few. I could not decide what to put with the bear at first so I did google search child toys and found marbles and rubber ducks. I went with this idea.

Hungry As A Bear by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Hungry As A Bear by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Sorry for not posting over the last few days. I kinda got caught up in the Christmas spirit and family and friends and neglected my blog and my followers. I painted this little bear another of my favorites. His hair is fluffy and he is just plum cute. I find olives and interesting thing to paint so my husband bought me a jar the other day. They are very good and salty too. The fork kinda an after thought. This little dish is the one I purchased at World Market recently and the apple just because I wanted a little more red. I hope your holidays was wonderful as was mine. I was able to visit family and partake of much food. To much I might add. My son Kristopher came from North Carolina with his sweet wife Jen. She is the most amazing cook. She made some of those homemade marshmallows with chocolate and coconut on top you know the kind that you only see on pinterest. My daughter and her friend came and put down new porcelain tile in my kitchen and my youngest daughter just made sure that every moment was wonderful. I think of all of these things and realize how very blessed I am. Life is good and I just want to savor every moment. Thank you for visiting my blog, thanks for all of the kind words and priceless comments. May your year be filled with happiness and just plain good things.

Baby Sitting by Angela Sullivan

Baby Sitting by Angela Sullivan
Mom wanted me to babysit once again. At first I screamed Nooooooo! but then I thought about how tired she has looked lately. My little sister looked up to me and smiled. I decided I would try it just one more time. I know I will just give her all the milk and cookies that she could possibly want and then some candy. Then she will have to be good right?

I had so much fun painting this. I was thinking about painting and how long I wondered when I would ever see my style as they call it. I think every artist must start out painting like someone else until one day you paint something that is truly yours. Today is one of those days.

My Friends and I by Angela Sullivan

My Friends and I.
I love Teddy Bears. I have a few of them and occasionally move them from place to place in my house. I cringe when my grandchildren grabs one of them to play with. These are some of them from my collection. A little animated of course. 10x10 oil on gallery wrapped canvas.

I do not have a light box. Of course I want one and have set up several arrangements at different times but really I do need a real one. This is a glimpse of the make shift one I used for this painting. Pretty bad huh?

Giving Love Away

Giving Love Away
I am still in my quest of doing the perfect study which will become a larger painting. And
daily I trudge along paintingmy little heart out. Today once again I paint this Teddy Bear which my
mom gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago. I only have a few of them and treasure each one.
As I think about this little bear I think about my mom. She will be 89 this year. I still call her each day and I can't help but think about all those times she showed me love in so many ways. Like all of the times she did without so I could have what I wanted not what I needed. It is a wonderful thing when you give love away and years later it brings a smile when someone thinks of it.
