Big Sister Still Life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Big Sister Still Life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Showing you my mistakes makes me feel very wide open so here goes. As you know I paint alla prima for the most part. I painted the top picture and was gonna be done. In fact I thought I was done but I knew I was not happy with the spout on the teapot even though it did protrude out as painted but it just looked odd. I left it over night thinking maybe no one would notice especially since I had added that luscious cherry. Anyway, I got home from work today and decided to add the second teddy bear. ( I made the larger bear out of floral fabric). I am much happier with the end result. 14x11 oil on canvas panel. (I also painted the ceramic teapot).

Southern Charm still life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Southern Charm still life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
I was honored to be invited to paint last weekend at JC Morgan Art Gallery in Oxford, Al. The paintings on the wall display were all painted by me and I painted the still life on the easel for the setup in the corner. I hope you enjoy it. 20x16 oil on gallery wrapped canvas.

And A Few Grapes still life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
And A Few Grapes still life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
I have studied different paintings that I like and have purposely noted what it is that I like about them and that being said I decided to change my background colors at least on this one. I don't think I have ever used these colors for a background before. Also I painted the grapes from models of other painters grapes Purposeful darks and brights and this is what I came up with. I am pleased as I hope you are. This is oil painted on 8x8 canvas panel. Again, I have been using black canvas panels and am really liking the results.

That Is One Very Good Cookie by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Another teapot with fruit and of course a cookie. I loved painting this I know I say that quite a lot but I really have been happy painting lately. I am making myself make time for it. It has been a very rewarding struggle. This is oil painted on another 8x8 black canvas panel.

Berry Good Tea stil life painting by Alabmam Artist Angela Sullivan
I recently ordered these canvas panels in black. Wow! do I love painting on them and I don't really even know why. The color of this photo is not exactly spot on but I did the best that I could.

Pour Me Some by Angela Sullivan
Pour Me Some by Angela Sullivan
Another teapot I ordered from Ebay. I would not really think of myself as a
still life artist but I sure do paint a lot of them. I guess I just have a hard time getting a
cow into the living room.

Christmas Gathering
Christmas Gathering
There is no time on earth like Christmas... The visits by family
and friends, The warm cozy feeling of a fire in the fireplace. The comfort of home. The smell of fresh baked cookies and the laughter of children. All these things are what is so special about
a Christmas Gathering.

A Bug In My Cup
A Bug In My Cup
I continue my quest to paint clear glass things. I got this cup for my daughter while we were on
vacation this summer. It is not as fragile looking as I wanted but it certainly will not be the last.

If I Could Have Just One Cherry
I think I would be happy if I could have just one cherry. That really

Antique Teapot
Antique Teapot
I bought this teapot when I was 18 years old because I just
fell in love with it. It has spent the last 10 years or more in a trunk.
My husband found it the other day and it felt like seeing an old friend.
This is one painting that I couldn't seem to get the colors just right so this
will have to do...

Mama's Treasures
Mama's Treasures
The old teapot has made it's share of tea. The cup
has met many lips and waited as the warm brew was savored.
Now they both sit alone just waiting until the day when they are needed once again.
