The Road Leads Home landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

The Road Leads Home landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Trying different colors than I usually use I found a certain playfulness in this painting. I added, painted over, touched up and many other things. The end result is this cheerful painting.

Under Dark Skies barn painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Under Dark Skies barn painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
This is actually a bit darker than it really is but it does have a punch of light and bright interest points. The red areas on the roof edge are bright red with hints of cadmium yellow. At first the clouds were white and fluffy but they drew attention from the barn so of course I subdued them which pushed them into the background.5x7 oil on canvas panel.

Squawk Box chicken painting by Alabama artist Angela Sullivan

Squawk Box chicken painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Well!!! Well!!
Today I started a little journey which included chickens. Well actually I did not start the journey today but last Thursday I think. I received in the mail an rectangular box in the mail. The box was wrapped in a mysterious brown paper. What could it be? I had not ordered anything. I gently removed the brown paper to find inside a white box. Oh my!!! It was the traveling chicken and her friends. I took special care as I cut the wrapper and tape leaving the box unharmed. I kept it for two days before I was brave enough to open it. In side this box was a Styrofoam box. I slowly removed the lid not wanting anything to fall out. First a small piece of bubble wrap and then a cloth bag.I pulled them out one at a time while holding my breath that they are all ok. I removed Ms Chick and knew something was wrong as I saw Senor Gallo Rozzo... His legs were broken but not to worry. I got the super glue and in no time he was as good as new.

Touched by the Sun landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Touched by the Sun landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Landscape 7x5 oil on canvas panel. Sometimes I wonder why certain artist only paint still lifes while others paint landscapes and other things. Most of the time my mind just picks still life while I struggle with landscapes. It seems that I struggle to keep the main thing the main thing in landscapes. I have more trouble with color harmony and lights, darks, and midtones and so I continue to learn and try and then just repeat it all over again.

Daisies In The Meadow landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Daisies In The Meadow landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
As I paint these small paintings I am trying to focus on the points of interest while playing with light and color intensity in order to keep the focus where I want it to be. I like the fact that I get to decide and I am so far pleased with the results. I hope you enjoy your visit and see something you like.

Just Hiding Out animal painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Just Hiding Out animal painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Don't miss the lady bug on the nose... This little dog was just too sweet not to paint him. I worked a lot on his fur but in the end was finally okay with the way it turned out. I say this with a chuckle because sometimes when I paint it just kinda takes on a life of its on and sometimes it does exactly what I want it to do. You just never know. 5x7 animal painting oil on canvas panel.

Perched High red bird painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Each day as I paint I learn something. I used a fan brush on this for the pine needles. I have never used a fan brush with any success but it worked ok today.

My Hair is a Mess cow painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Gentle Summers Rain landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
I love this little jewel of a painting. My daughter said " There is no such thing as a long haired cow."
I found the reference photo on morguefile.com a place for artist to find free reference material. I assure you there are long haired cattle as there are long horns and other strange looking animals. Hope you love this one. 7x5 inches oil on canvas animal painting.

This is such a bold little painting with lots of color and spark. Thick paint is built up as I painted and intentionally left it that way.

Cozy Comfort landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Cozy Comfort landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
I painted again today. My time is so sapped by everything in life. I know that I surely have no monotony on that but I sure get frustrated when it cuts into my painting time. Any way... enough pouting. I am just glad for the little time I am able to scrounge to paint. I so love painting and I really thank each of you for stopping by and checking out my new paintings. I hope your day is wonderful.
