Saving For A Rainy Day by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Saving For A Rainy Day by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
If you have wondered why I have not posted for a few days it is because I have been locked in at the hospital for three days. When the snow storm began I got a call from the hospital at 11am that they were sending the National Guard to pick me up for my shift which would began at 7pm. I had no option but to go as I am a critical care nurse. We camped out on mattresses on the floor with all of the ICU staff sleeping in the same conference room. They fed us and kept us warm and even arranged for showers and personal needs of course. We could not leave the hospital until today when the weather warmed up enough for us to leave. Wow!!! That was not fun. There is no place like home.

Purple Bliss by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Purple Bliss by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
This is another softy as I call it that I painted after Carol Carmichael's workshop.
I certainly am not used to this kind of painting but I have to say I kinda like it.
This Hydrangea I bought at Publix a couple of weeks ago and it is in full bloom now.
I am no good with flowers so it will probably die soon. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I welcome any suggestions for keeping it alive.
This painting is a 24x8 inch on gallery wrapped canvas. Still life,

Hay Please by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Hay Please by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Another painting that I painted at Carol Carmichael's workshop. Softer and a sweet looking
little cow. Would love to know what you think of this different style. Like it or like my old style better. I have to admit that I have always liked bold and bright but I kinda like these.

Getting My Feet Wet by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Getting My Feet Wet by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

I attended a workshop with Carol Carmichael in Birmingham, Al. over the weekend. It was wonderful to say the least. I certainly painted differently than my usual. Mostly explored more of a pastel look instead of the bold paints I most often use. Over the next few days I will be posting some of the ones I did at this workshop and afterward while still using the techniques I learned there.
Thanks Carol for such a lovely time.

Hyacinth by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Hyacinth by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
I am afraid I am coming some kinda painting freak. I went to Publix today and all I bought was these painting props. My  last apples kinda went bad because I just kept saying to myself "just one more day". What am I becoming? I think I need to go to painters anonymous.

On Top Of The World by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

On Top Of The World by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
I have been painting quite a lot despite working a full time job. But a full time job I realize just
does not give me the satisifaction that painting does. I know I have painted a lot of apples and pears
not to mention the green vase and that little cup. My 6 year old grandson set this up for me. I did have
to move one of the pears due to the small canvas size. I am learning that you have to paint the fruit while it last which is not long enough. The tulips bit the dust pretty quickly but I did get quite a few paintings from them though.

Out of Season by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Out of Season by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Among the paint props that my daughter gave me for Christmas was this little snowman. I was gonna wait until next Christmas to paint it but sitting there on the shelf I just couldn't resist along with the fact that every time my daughter came over she said Hey mom, when are you gonna paint the snowman. Well here it is. With the snow storms occurring recently this really isn't out of season.

Arranged Marriage by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Arranged Marriage by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
First of all I want to say thank you for viewing my art. Your support is so important to me.
This is going to be such a good year. I am looking forward to good things.
Arranged Marriage I have to say is one of those paintings that I really love. I named it because of the meticulous time I took to arrange it. It just seemed right. Hope you love it. As I look at this I realize that my style is changing as time goes by little by little day by day. I hope you like this change...I think I do. 10x8 oil still life on canvas panel.

I had been wanted something special to paint so I went shopping yesterday and bought the pears,
the tulips, some apples and peppers. I hope that I will be able to paint all of them while they last. The tulips are already looking a little wilted but I hope they at least last one more day. The chicken .....again. 10x8 oil on canvas panel, still life.

Miss Chick by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Miss Chick by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Again I felt compelled to paint the chick I got for Christmas. It just kinda screams paint me.
I looked around my studio and saw a beautiful red apple. One my daughter brought me a couple of weeks ago.I got the knife and cut it up wanting to capture the fleshy part and seeds but to my surprise it was all brown inside so I did what any artist would do I changed it. Thanks for following or just simply taking time to look at my blog.
