Bumpy. Unavailable

Bumpy
Why couldn't I be like all the other pumpkins? They are smooth while I am bumpy.
I think smooth is better however I could be glass like just an old every day cookie jar.
I guess I would rather be Bumpy.

Out Front

Out Front
No matter how many chickens are in the yard I am the one out front.
I lead them all. I struggle daily with all who try to take over. What oh what shall I do.

Tipped Over (reworked)

Tipped Over
One year ago today I painted this but have always been a little bugged about it as
It's place of residence was on my studio wall. Today I decided it was time to touch it
up a little shall we say. The first version was acrylic and since I have read that we can paint
oil over acrylic that is exactly what I did. This is a 12x12 gallery wrapped canvas.

Salty Good

Salty good
We are wonderful. We are plump and firm just like you would want us to be.
We start out green and firm then someone pokes a hole in us and fills us with that red
delicious filling, Pimento I think it is called. Which is better? I think it is the olive. No I know
it is. We are better because Green is always better than red...right?
Anyway we are not just good....We are Salty Good.

 When I Grow Up
Ever since I was a Tommie Toe tomato my mom told me to set my goals high so
when I grow up I want to go into that delicious Heinz 57....
Who doesn't like that. So rich and the essence of what a tomato should be.
That is for sure What I Wanna Be When I Grow Up

Shrimping

Shrimping
Shrimp boats are so majestic and old looking. When I think of them I think of something old
and creaking with each roll of the tide. I know I am wrong but my thoughts are along the gulf coast.
A place where seagulls fill the sky and the smell of salt is heavy in the air.

Warm Milk

Warm Milk
When I was young my parents was friends with a family who had a small farm.
We would visit and the lady would churn her own butter and they had fresh buttermilk.
I think they made cheese also but then again I was young and more worried about
playing than nutrition....

For Morning Coffee No longer available ( Art Demo In Oils)

Ok! I am always intrigued by artist that post how to. Well this may not be how to but how I did it.
1. I start by toning my canvas. Any color will do but I usually use Burnt Sienna today however I used thinned Thalo Blue and white.
 2. Next I do a rough sketch with Burnt Umber thinned  #2 bright brush
 3. Add some shadowing and what will be my darks. Thalo blue and burnt umber with maybe a touch of Aliz Crimson
4.Thalo blue and Aliz Chrimson for the dark purple flowers
 5. Touch of white to mixture for highlights on flowers. Sap green and cad yellow light for greens with Thalo blue for darks and of course Aliz Crimson
 6. rough in highlights on pot. White and ultramarine blue with raw umber
 7. Cad yellow light with burnt sienna for interest
 8. Using a #4 bright I scruff to soften shadows and lights on teapot
 9. Adding some darks back in for contrast I paint in the background with titanium white raw umber mixed with ultramarine blue.
 10.  I scruff into the green leaves and purple flowers in background also adding highlights to background vase
 11. Adding sharp highlights to teapot with titanium white and a touch of thalo blue
12. Finishing I add purple and green hints to teapot to tie them all in. I soften edges and leave some bright highlights and of course sign my name. I hope you have enjoyed this as posting a step by step demo is something I never really thought I would do. I so enjoy other artist demos that I figured I would give it a go. Hope your day is blessed and please oh please visit again soon. Would appreciate comments if you enjoyed this.

Funny Little Cow

Funny Little Cow
As many know I just love love love painting cows. I don't really
know why. On our recent vacation I did get quite a few photos of cows.
My daughter and I rode for miles and miles just looking for cows. That was
fun but painting them is more than that....

Antiques. Unavailable

Antiques
A place where memories rest just waiting for someone new to fall in love with them.
They hang around collecting dust while hidden in the corners, under things, out of sight until
one day someone special comes along and falls in love. A special bond is formed and
sometimes you find yourself in the situation of not being able to leave without it no matter the
cost. This little antique shoppe is in Pigeon Forge, Tn. A beautiful building with beautiful things.

A Wreath On The Door

A Wreath On The Door
Somewhere in the mountains of Tennessee sits this little church.
A Crisp white exterior yet a welcoming wreath on the door. When I saw this place
I could feel the smile spread across my lips at just the sight of it. It felt so homey and welcoming.
Anyone could feel at home here it is truly one of those home away from home places.
5x7 mixed media. I painted this in acrylic plein aire but found it lacked something. I over painted
portions in oil and was somewhat satisfied with the results.

Coming Or Going

Coming Or Going
We are a family from different sorts. I want to go this way while the others want
to start out on their own. I will not be a victim of peer pressure. I am on my own and I
will not change my mind.  Well maybe. I really don't know if I am Coming or Going.

Lazy Mountain Water

Lazy Mountain Water
The last painting done on location at Pigeon Forge,Tennessee. I had such a fun
filled time with family and friends. We went tubing down the shallow river and visited
some of the shows. We ate too much and laughed a lot and now all that is left are memories....
Until next year that is.

Shallow Mountain Stream

Shallow Mountain Stream
No the stream did not really come this close to the house but that
is the good thing about being an artist I can do what I want and place things where I want.
Sometimes my choices are good and other times not so good.

The Woods Surround Me

The Woods Surround Me
In the middle of July on what will be a hot balmy day is a time early in the
morning right after daybreak when the cool mountain mist makes everything wonderful.
I drove through the beautiful countryside searching for the perfect place to paint.
This was done at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. A beautiful vacation and time spent with family.

Mountain Reflections

Mountain Reflections
A place of peace can really be anywhere. I have been in a crowd yet
so all alone in thought and peace. You have too. This was painted
on a recent trip to the Smoky Mountains a real place of peace and
reflection. Believe it or not I drug out the old acrylic paints
and for the first time ventured out for some plein air painting.
So much fun. My youngest daughter Lacy got up at the crack
of dawn to go with me so someone did not kill me. I think that is how she said it.
As you can see I am alive and well...for now.

In Deep Water

In Deep Water
I am a lonely fish on my way to meet other fish. Yes I am in deep water
but not like you think. I am sweet if you can call a fish sweet. I stay near my home and
obey my parent fish who don't really ask to much of me. One day I will meet a girl and
little fish will hatch out just like me. Yep and so is the way of the universe. So for now
I will just keep on swimming and enjoy all that life has to give. Hey! gotta go now
cause I think I see a worm. :).

Eaten

Eaten
I am a crab and yes unlike the fish from yesterday I have met my demise.
Someone saw me and thought I would be tasty. I hope I met their expectations.
I guess I don't mind so bad as I was getting arthritis and was in a lot of
pain so I guess when you look at it that way they kinda got me out of my misery.
I wonder if like dogs do All Crabs Go To Heaven?

Caught

Caught
Am I dead? Is this heaven? Surely not what I imagined. The creatures here are so
ugly. Two eyes of course, a nose and a mouth... is that what I think is a smile. This worm was
not worth it. Somehow I don't feel dead.....Nooooooooo don't touch me. The hook is
out I guess then next step is shall I say out of the frying pan into the fire... That creature just
took the hook out and is tossing me back into the water....Can it be that like a cat I have more than
one life. And I am swimming as fast as I can I must tell others... I promise I will never eat
another worm I don't care how good they look. Whew! that was close.
