Enough To Go Around rose painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Enough To Go Around rose painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
A rose is not a rose is not a rose is not a rose. These things are not easy to paint. Oh they look easy enough but I lost sleep over them. I just can't leave well enough alone. I could have painted a cherry or a cow or something a little easier but no I had to do a rose. After all of that being said this painting did turn out very nicely. 8x8 oil on canvas panel. still life

Forced to Bloom still life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Forced to Bloom still life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Once I had a bulb which I forced in water. It bloomed and was beautiful but it sure did not last very long. Still I believe I would do it again. I am ready for spring.....

Winter Majesty cardinal painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Winter Majesty cardinal painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Again I paint a bird but added the interest of snow both clumped on the branches and a fine mist in the air. It seems quite chilly to me. 7x5 oil on canvas panel.

Through The Closed Gate by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
7x5 oil on canvas panel.
These little landscaped really make me think. I remember when I first started painting I did not actually realize that each tiny stroke of an artist brush is intentional and not by accident or by just happening.

The Road Leads Home landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Trying different colors than I usually use I found a certain playfulness in this painting. I added, painted over, touched up and many other things. The end result is this cheerful painting.

Under Dark Skies barn painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Under Dark Skies barn painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
This is actually a bit darker than it really is but it does have a punch of light and bright interest points. The red areas on the roof edge are bright red with hints of cadmium yellow. At first the clouds were white and fluffy but they drew attention from the barn so of course I subdued them which pushed them into the background.5x7 oil on canvas panel.
