Blackie cow painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Blackie cow painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Today I worked on dark to light values which I think worked well to accentuate the creases in the neck area. I am happy with the eyes because the eyes really show the spirit and life of the animal. In the photo I worked form on this black cow his eyes showed as black with areas of brown. Most cows I paint show as black only but being an artist I can add what I want to make the painting work better. Please don't ever let anyone tell you that painting a black cow is easy or black animal of any kind for that matter. Pet Portrait, cow painting oil on 7x5 canvas panel.

I love your cow paintings. Have you seen the video of the cows being let out to pasture after being in the barn and they hop as they run out - they are so happy! They were rescued by some people so they wouldn't be put down.
