It has been a  minute since I have posted here. I have retired, opened a small business and traveled a little. Life is good and I am back to my love of painting. This is 24x24inches oil on gallery wrapped canvas.

As I paint these small paintings I am trying to focus on the points of interest while playing with light and color intensity in order to keep the focus where I want it to be. A Spray of Color by Angela Sullivan

Just a pitcher of flowers you may say. The truth is that is what we started out as a dark and

forboding piece of canvas with nothing but blue and a little purple here and there. Then sprinkles of color

started showing up and flowers formed and as an after thought the pear. Oh yea and who could forget those blue flowers on the pitcher. What I am trying to say is when all is said and done what could be nicer than just a little Spray of Color. It alone changes the world.

Today is 1/25/13 I retouched this painting. When I looked at it something just bothered me.

I had painted all the flowers forward (I know better). So I repainted and flipped some of them and added some background petals I also reworked the ellipse in the water. Better I think.

Tis vase of yellow flowers just caught my eye as so many

things do. I studied the shape of the vase the soft delicate flowers and the water

line of course. Also the light shining through the water in the shadow area brought attention.

I have always had trouble with this so I thought I would try it once again.

These two little geese look like a mother teaching her child about

life. I couldn't resist naming it Raising Cain.

A Sprinkle Of Light

A vase of flowers with sunflowers and daisy's. Some lady's prefer

these to roses. Why?  Sunflowers are hardy flowers and provide food in the

form of seeds. They are sunny and bright. Daisies are just plan

delicate and beautiful. Who wouldn't want some?

A blue cup sitting on the counter just waiting for a nice warm cup of coffee. Then a little girl rushes in ,out of breath from her trek outside. With her skin warm and moist and her breathing heavy from running in the fields she calls her mom. Mom! look what I picked for you. A single daisy, what can we put it in? Then she spied it. The blue cup a perfect place for the delicate flower. A gift of love.
